12 ‘fixers’ nabbed near LTO main office in QC

MANILA, Philippines — Twelve persons were arrested during a joint operation of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Quezon City police on Monday for posing as employees of the transport agency.

According to LTO, the arrested persons serve as “fixers” operating in Brgy. Pinyahan in Quezon City. LTO also said the suspects “approach LTO clients and act as if they belong to an LTO help desk.”

“We have been receiving mounting reports, especially on Facebook and other social media platforms, of fixers in the vicinity of the Central Office. They approach LTO clients and act as if they belong to an LTO help desk, a part of the agency,” LTO Law Enforcement Service Acting Director Clarence Guinto said in a statement.

He added that the LTO-PNP team already confiscated the tarpaulins of the fixers.

The 12 fixers will face charges for violations of the Anti-Red Tape law, Usurpation of Authority, and the Quezon City Anti-Fixing Ordinance, among others, Guinto said.

He also reminded the public to “not patronize these fixers posing as LTO employees.”

“They will not facilitate the processing of your transaction. They will only give you trouble eventually. Transact at legitimate LTO counters only,” Guinto stressed. /kga
