TACLOBAN CITY – Eastern Visayas regional police director Brigadier General Dionardo Carlos has been named the new director of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG).
Carlos was one of the senior officials affected by the revamp initiated by Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge Lieutenant Archie Gamboa.
Carlos, who assumed his post as regional director for Eastern Visayas on August 10, 2018, will be replaced by Brigadier General Ferdinand Divina.
The reassignment of Carlos was announced a few days after police seized P600 million worth of shabu (crytal meth) in the region.
Col. Ma. Bella Rentuaya, regional police information officer, cited Carlos’ accomplishments during his 15-month stint in Eastern Visayas.
For one, Carlos’ combat-readiness inspections and the standing memorandum of a 14-man on duty in every police stations prevented members of the New People’s Army (NPA) from attacking a police station in Allen town, Northern Samar on March 28 of this year.
Carlos also created a program wherein container vans were transformed into barber shops, coffee shops, and equipment storage facilities inside the regional headquarters in Palo, Leyte.
