MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said it was “proud to inherit” the legacy of late Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr.

As the Father of the Local Government Code, the PNP said Pimentel “crafted legislation that defined the role of the local government sector vis-à-vis the agencies that compose the interior sector, which includes the PNP.”

“The Philippine National Police under PNP OIC, PLtGen Archie Francisco Gamboa joins the nation in mourning over the passing of a great Filipino statesman,” the PNP said in a statement.
