ACT condemns shooting of teacher in Bukidnon
MANILA, Philippines — The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) deplored the Oct. 15 shooting of public school teacher Zhaydee Cabañelez who was attacked by gunmen in front of schoolchildren during a flag ceremony at Dalet Elementary School at Barangay Lumbayao in Valencia City in Bukidnon.
Cabañelez, who survived the attack, was recognized as an outstanding teacher in her barangay in 2017 but was tagged as a communist sympathizer, said ACT national chair Joselyn Martinez. —Mariejo S. Ramos
