TACLOBAN CITY –– Two members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) were gunned down by still-unknown assailants in Palapag town, Northern Samar province on Friday.
Reports reaching the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas based in Palo town, Leyte province identified the victims as Jason Rebay and Gerry Ortea, both Cafgu members under the 52nd Cafgu Active Auxiliary detachment based in Palapag town.
The victims were on board a motorcycle heading towards Barangay Pangpang in Palapag about 2:20 p.m.
While cruising Barangay Sumoroy, the still-unknown perpetrators shot them several times, killing them on the spot.
Police recovered two empty shells of 5.56-mm firearm in the crime scene.
