4.3 quake jolts parts of Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines–A 4.3 magnitude earthquake shook Mindanao Friday night, three days after a powerful tremor left five people dead and dozens injured on the southern Philippine island.

It was felt strongest in Kidapawan City with instrumental Intensity IV, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the quake that centered 23 kilometers northwest of Tulunan town, Cotabato. It struck at a depth of 48 km.

The quake, an aftershock of Wednesday’s tremor, was also felt at Intensity III in Malungon, Sarangani and Intensity II in Tupi and Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

On Wednesday night, a large swath of Mindanao was jolted by a 6.3-magnitude quake, leaving five people dead and 53 injured, mainly in a cluster of small farming towns.
