CBCP opposes 2-year probation for workers
MANILA, Philippines — The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) slammed the proposal of Probinsyano Ako party list to extend to two years the legal probationary period of workers because it would “legalize contractualization.”
Fr. Edwin Gariguez, executive secretary of the CBCP National Secretariat for Social Action Justice and Peace, called for public opposition to House Bill No. 4802, authored by Probinsyano Ako Rep. Jose Singson Jr., because it would disadvantage workers instead of protecting them.
