MANILA, Philippines — A 4.7 magnitude earthquake rocked Cotabato on Friday evening just two days after 6.3-magnitude quake that hit southern Mindanao, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Based on its initial earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said this was an aftershock of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Cotabato on Wednesday.
The 4.7-magnitude quake hit 18 kilometers (km) southeast of Tulunan, Cotabato at 6:56 p.m.
The earthquake, which was tectonic by origin, has a depth of 16 km.
It was felt at Intensity IV in Tulunan and Intensity III in Kidapawan City and Matalam, Cotabato.
Instrumental Intensities were also felt in some areas:
Intensity IV – Kidapawan City
Intensity III – Koronadal City, South Cotabato; Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity II – Tupi, South Cotabato
Intensity I -Alabel, Sarangani
Phivolcs said there were no expected damage and aftershocks from the earthquake.
