Bartolome made the disclosure after the Department of Justice and National Bureau of Investigation made similar statements.

Bartolome said, “Meron din kami natanggap at nakausap.”

Bartolome said that the PNP was “always hopeful na lalabas siya to face the charges.”

He said that should Palparan surrender to authorities, he would be provided with security, adding “lahat pwedeng bigyan ng ganun.”

But it was still up to the Bulacan regional trial court Branch 14 to decide who would get custody of Palparan once he surrenders.

He said that should the retired military man surrender to the police, he could be detained in Camp Crame while waiting for the court’s decision on his custody.

Palparan has been in hiding after Judge Teodora Gonzales of the Bulacan RTC Branch 14 issued warrants for the capture of Palparan and three other military officers for the disappearance of University of the Philippines student activists Karen Empeno and Sherlyn Capadan in Hagonoy, Bulacan in June 2006.
