MSU student shot in the head survives attack

ILIGAN CITY—A student of the Mindanao State University (MSU) survived a gunshot to the head fired by a lone gunman for still unknown reasons.

Thr student, Pooinar Almeda, 20, of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur, was inside the MSU campus when he was attacked, which came amid tight security for the commemoration of rhe second year of Marawi’s liberation from homegrown terror groups allied with Islamic State.


Col. Madzghani Mukaram, Lanao del Sur police chief, said Almeda was walking with three female friends inside the MSU campus when the gunman emerged and, without provocation, shot Almeda with a .45 caliber pistol. A single bullet casing was found in the crime scene.

Almeda was rushed to the Amai Pakpak Medical Center where he is recuperating. An investigation has been launched by police./TSB
