Subic Bay Freeport to host P15B ‘eco-friendly’ Taiwanese industrial park

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—A Taiwanese company will build the first eco-friendly industrial park atop the rolling hills inside this free port, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) said on Thursday.

In a statement, Lawyer Wilma Eisma, SBMA chair and administrator, said Xantheng Subic International Corp. has pledged to invest P15 billion for the industrial park that will house light industrial factories, commercial facilities, residential buildings and a nature park.

The project, dubbed Tipo Hightech Eco Park (THEP), will rise in a 200-hectare property in Tipo area near the expressway leading to this free port.

The company is also engaged in the construction of a high-end condominium complex at Triboa Bay here.

THEP Project Manager Jeff Lin said the industrial park will hire about 500 workers during the construction stage.

“More employees will be hired when factories and business start operating,” Lin said.

Eisma said Xantheng will incorporate environmental conservation in this project. Joanna Rose Aglibot
