Cops nab 2 suspects in kidnapping of 22-year-old woman

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested on Wednesday two suspects for abducting a 22-year-old woman in Cavite, who was also allegedly raped by a man.

A report from Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) said they received a text message from the victim that she was illegally detained in Silang, Cavite.

Operatives of PNP-AKG and Silang, Cavite Municipal police station responded to the area to rescue the woman.

The operation also led to the arrest of suspects identified as Asnawe Mago, 23, and a minor.

Based on the victim’s sworn statement, she was inside her house when the group of Ampaso Magno forced her inside a car. She said Magno forcibly removed her clothes and raped her inside the vehicle.

The suspects were taken to PNP-AKG for inquest proceedings while charges for kidnapping with ransom with serious illegal detention.

A case for rape will also be filed against Magno.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation to track down Magno and other suspects.
