New Central Visayas police chief orders more aggressive drive vs illegal drugs

CEBU CITY –– Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon on Thursday assumed his post as the new Central Visayas police director.

“There will be continuity in so far as programs are concern but we will also implement some program that also fit my style of leadership,” he said in an interview after the turnover ceremonies at the Camp Sergio Osmena Sr. in Cebu City.

The turnover of command was led by Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa. The ceremonies were also attended by six other police generals from the national headquarters.

De Leon, a former Firearms and Explosives chief, replaced Brigadier General Debold Sinas who is now the National Capital Region Police Office director.

In his speech, De Leon warned police “scalawags” that they have no place in the Central Visayas Regional police.

De Leon also ordered a more aggressive operations against illegal drugs throughout the region.

“There shall be no let up in our battle against all forms of criminality. I am warning police scalawags in my area: you have no place in PRO-7 team. To all commanders: lead by example and walk the talk,” he said. /lzb
