Magnitude 4.7 aftershock jolts North Cotabato, nearby provinces anew
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.7 aftershock hit North Cotabato and nearby provinces anew on Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the aftershock was recorded at 9:53 a.m., with the epicenter located 20 kilometers southeast of Tulunan town in North Cotabato.
The quake was of tectonic origin and had a depth of 6 kilometers, Phivolcs added.
Intensity II was recorded in Koronadal City in South Cotabato while Intensity I was recorded in Alabel, Sarangani and Tupi, South Cotabato.
The quake was one of the aftershocks of the magnitude 6.3 quake that hit Mindanao island on Wednesday night.
The strongest aftershock following the initial quake was recorded in Sultan Kudarat at magnitude 5.5 on Wednesday night. /muf
