MANILA, Philippines — A pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage in Kidapawan City after a magnitude 6.3 quake rattled a large swath of Mindanao.
Psalmer Bernalte, head of the Kidapawan City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), said the woman is the third person to sustain injuries in the city.
“Nalaglag yung kanyang baby dahil sa shock noong nagkaroon ng lindol, so siya yung pangatlong injury natin,” Bernalte said in an interview over radio station DZMM.
(She suffered a miscarriage due to the shock of the quake, so she is our third injured resident.)
Bernalte said evacuation measures were implemented in one of the barangays (village) in the city due to landslide as aftershocks continue to rock the city.
Slight damages were also reported in structures in the city, he added.
Further, classes and government work have been suspended.
The strong quake struck at 7:37 p.m. with its epicenter located 23 kilometers southwest of Makilala town in North Cotabato.
Intensity VII was reported in Kidapawan City.
