MANILA, Philippines – Wednesday night’s magnitude 6.3 earthquake that jolted North Cotabato and nearby provinces also injured a number of residents and caused serious damage to several buildings and structures.
Cor Jesu College in Digos City’s walls had large cracks and nearly collapsed while many windows shattered.
Fire also damaged the Gaisano Mall in General Santos City shortly after the earthquake struck.
Firefighting authorities, however, said that they are trying to establish whether or not the blaze was triggered by the earthquake. /gsg
