SC, Manila begin preparations for bar exams
MANILA, Phililppines — Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe on Wednesday sought logistical and security support from the Manila City government for next month’s bar examinations at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
During a courtesy call on Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Bernabe asked that security be stepped up around UST during the test for aspiring lawyers which would start on Nov. 3.
The bar exams will be held on the four Sundays of November.
Additional ambulances and rescue personnel from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office were also requested.
Last year, 8,155 people took the grueling examination facilitated by the SC. Bernabe, the 2019 bar exam chair, also asked for the strict implementation of the liquor ban on business establishments around UST.
Domagoso assured her that the city government would accommodate the court’s request, adding that they would also supervise traffic in the area. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
