02:56 AM October 17, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — A public school teacher abducted last September was released by her captors in Sulu on Wednesday, the military said.

Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Maj. Arvin Encinas said 58-year-old Rose Singua was rescued by joint government troops in a hotel room in Jolo, Sulu past 6 a.m.

The victim’s sister paid ransom worth over P200,000 as part of the entrapment operation of the military and police.

The teacher, who was based in Zamboanga City, was abducted last Sept. 27 when she was on her way to a wedding in Dipolog City. Her captors instead brought her to Jolo.
