Anti-red tape body to 3 gov’t agencies: Shape up

MANILA, Philippines — Three government agencies need the most reform for violations on the Anti-Red tape Act, the chief of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) said Wednesday.

Jeremiah Belgica, director general of ARTA identified the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Land Registration Authority (LRA).

“Well, it’s true we have seen that they really need to shape up because there’s really red tape inside these agencies,” Belgica said in a briefing in Malacañang.

But Belgica said they have yet to “thorougly investigate” other government agencies on their compliance on the Anti-Red Tape Act.

“But if we say that they are the most [complained], we still have lots of government agencies that we have not thorougly investigayed,” he said.

Belgica said they have already acted on these agencies “and we are continuing to act on these agencies.”

“So these three agencies, we are focused on them. We saw the problem in these agencies, that’s why we’re focusing on them,” he said.

During his fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona), President Rodrigo Duterte identified five most complained agencies of the government.   /muf
