Bantay Gubat hurt in Palawan shooting

CITY OF CALAPAN –– A gunman shot a member of the Bantay Gubat (Forest Guard) in Roxas town, Palawan on Tuesday.

Inocencio Gabarato, 47, was traveling on board his motorcycle when the assailant approached and shot him several times in Sitio Iraan in Barangay Magara around 2 p.m., a report from the Mimaropa police said.

With bullet wounds on his stomach, right elbow and left thigh, Gabarato was immediately brought to the Roxas Medicare Hospital for treatment.

Revenge could have been the motive behind the shooting, police said. Last week, Gabarato confiscated a generator set from an illegal mining operation./lzb
