LUCENA CITY –– An alleged robber was killed while his companion was hurt in an ambush by an unidentified assailant in Tiaong town in Quezon province on Monday night.

A police report said Zoren Mindoro and Novien Mangundayao were walking home when the assailant, armed with a handgun, suddenly appeared and fired three shots towards them in Barangay San Agustin at 8:20 p.m.

Mindoro suffered fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot, while Mangundayao, who was hit on his right leg, was rushed to the nearest hospital.

The gunman escaped on foot after the shooting.

Police said Mindoro and Mangundayao, both residents of the said village, were suspects in a series of robbery incidents in 2017.
