MANILA, Philippines — A woman allegedly killed her five-year-old daughter and wounded another 11-year-old in Laguna on Tuesday, which police say was due to hallucinations caused by drug addiction.
Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police chief, identified the suspect as 30-year-old Ana Loraine Medalla, who was also arrested after allegedly committing the gruesome crime.
Matta said the suspect allegedly suffocated her youngest daughter before stabbing her elder child several times using scissors.
He said the body of the five-year-old child was found at the residence of the family in Barangay Tuy, Rizal town, while the other victim was rushed to a hospital.
“Due to drug addiction, naghahalucinate [she’s hallucinating],” Matta told INQUIRER.net when asked of the reason why the suspect committed the crime. He added the suspect, who may face a case of parricide and frustrated parricide, was hallucinating about “bad objects.”
Police are investigating the incident. /jpv
