MANILA, Philippines —Authorities on Thursday arrested a leader of a gun-for-hire group wanted for the murder of a village chairman last year in Ilocos Sur, police said.
Edgar Sinco was arrested in Pugos village, Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr., director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said.
Sinco was considered a principal suspect in the killing of village chairman Denmark Bueno in November last year, said Pagdilao, citing a report from Region 1 CIDG chief Senior Superintendent Ferdinand Divina.
Sinco, along with a certain William Palecpec, shot dead Bueno as he was heading to San Ramon village in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, said Divina.
Police were still hunting down Palecpec, said Pagdilao.
