A religious festival, also known as Fiesta Pilar, in Zamboanga City in Zamboanga del Sur province in honor of Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar.
Some 2,000 security forces were deployed during the opening of festivities last month.
Activities include photography competition, dance battle, art exhibit and Regatta de Zamboanga.
Oct. 13 to 26: Tinapa Festival
The coastal town of Rosario in Cavite province showcases its own smoked fish, or “tinapa,” called Tinapang Salinas.
Rosario was called Salinas, derived from the Spanish word “sal” or salt.
Preserving fish has been a tradition in Rosario as it has been the town’s major source of livelihood since the early 1960s.
Oct. 13 to 26: Kuliat Festival
The city of Angeles in Pampanga province celebrates three religious feasts—Our Lady of La Naval, Apung Mamacalulu (Dead Christ) and Holy Guardian Angels.
There will also be a job fair, car and motorcycle show, bike festival and street dancing.
