Register with Comelec, not SEC, party-list groups told

/ 05:22 AM October 11, 2019

Groups planning to run in future party list elections need not register with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The poll body cited Republic Act No. 11232, or the Revised Corporation Code of the Philippines, which gives the Comelec more power to regulate and accredit organizations looking to gain seats in the House of Representatives.

The poll body said it had created a liaison team that would be constantly coordinating with the SEC regarding issues that might arise related to the transfer of responsibilities.—TINA G. SANTOS
