Pagasa issues thunderstorm advisory for Metro Manila, nearby provinces

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has issued a thunderstorm advisory for Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

According to Pagasa’s 12:48 p.m. weather bulletin on Thursday, moderate to heavy rain shower with lightning and strong winds should be expected in Metro Manila, Quezon Province, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna within the next two hours.

Aside from these areas, the province of Zambales in Central Luzon will also experience the same conditions, Pagasa said.

Residents of the affected areas are advised by Pagasa to monitor the latest weather updates, as  rain and winds may trigger landslides or flash floods.

Earlier, the state weather bureau said weather conditions in most parts of the country will be generally fair as Typhoon Hagibis is not seen to affect local weather systems.  According to Pagasa, Hagibis is veering away from the Philippines and is not expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.  /muf
