MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck waters off Sabtang in Batanes on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake, which was of tectonic origin and has a one-kilometer depth of focus, occurred at 3:57 p.m. some 37 kilometers southwest of Sabtang.
Phivolcs said the temblor was also felt at Instrumental Intensity II in Basco, Batanes.
Further, Phivolcs noted that no aftershocks and damage may be expected from the earthquake. /kga
