2 dead, 1 wounded in 2 shooting incidents in Northern Samar

CATARMAN, Northern Samar — A couple was killed while a village chief was seriously wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Northern Samar on Tuesday evening.

Chiquito Arandia, treasurer of Barangay Gecboan, Silvino Lobos town, and his wife Ailyn Arandia, a businesswoman, were shot by still-unidentified suspects at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Poblacion 3, Silvino Lobos.

Both victims suffered multiple bullet wounds in their bodies.

Ailyn died on the spot while her husband Chiquito was brought to the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital in Catarman where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

At 8:50 p.m., Joseph Pahimnayan, 49, and chieftain of Barangay Gebunawan, Lope de Vega town, was shot and wounded by still unknown assailants.

Pahimnayan was residing in Sitio Geratigan, Barangay Bayho where the shooting occurred.

According to the police, Pahimnayan suffered two bullet wounds on his head and was immediately brought to the Catarman Doctors Hospital where he was under observation as of posting time.
