ILIGAN CITY—A drug suspect was killed while his son was arrested in a buy-bust operation turned bloody at a village in Marawi City on Monday, Oct. 7.
Police said Bokhari Alawi, 50, target of the anti-drug operation with his 19-year-old son, Salharie, drew a pistol and shot at policemen, who returned fire and killed the suspect.
Col. Thomas Pantaleon, head of the Marawi police, said Alawi and Salharie were among four targets of anti-drug operations by police and military.
The two other targets escaped.
Pantaleon said the suspects have been under surveillance for some time. Operatives recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver, nine sachets of shabu or crystal meth and P1,000 in marked money.
The son is now in custody of the Marawi police./TSB
