MANILA, Philippines–Marubeni Corp. of Japan is donating 10 million Japanese Yen or P5.6 million to support the relief efforts in Northern Mindanao, which was devastated by the flash floods brought by Storm Sendong (international code name: Washi).
In a statement issued Monday, Marubeni said two Philippine companies under its group, namely San Roque Power Corp. and Team Energy Corp., will also be extending additional assistance to the victims of Storm Sendong, which has killed more than a thousand people in the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, and Dumaguete.
San Roque Power already donated P1.5 million through the ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya hoping that additional assistance will be given to the thousands of families in the relocation centers.
Team Energy, Team Energy Foundation, Inc., will meanwhile be donating another P1 million also in support of the relief operations.
Marubeni said it expresses its sympathy for the loss of lives and extensive damage to properties, and its hope for the early reconstruction and rehabilitation of the affected areas.
Marubeni has been operating in the Philippines since 1909 and has investments in power generation, industrial estate and construction machinery.
