LEGAZPI CITY — Close to 3,000 private employers in Bicol who failed to pay the social insurance contribution intended for thousands of workers availed of the Contribution Penalty Condonation Program (CPCP) of the Social Security System (SSS) here, Jeannette Torallo-Mapa, SSS Bicol spokesperson, said Monday.
Mapa said some 17,210 workers from 2,531 employers in Bicol have benefitted from the CPCP.
Mapa added that the SSS program so far has collected P63 million worth of contributions from the full and initial payments of employers who availed of the condonation program.
She said P10 million more are expected to be collected from the P93 million-worth condoned penalties from the P194 million total worth of delinquencies of 2,531 employers.
Mapa said the workers of employers who have fully remitted their contribution could now avail of the seven benefits offered by the SSS including short-term loan privileges. Among the benefits are for sickness, maternity, unemployment, disability, retirement, funeral, and death/survivor. /je
