Cops arrest suspect with P10.2B worth of ‘shabu’

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Philippines — At least P10.2 million worth of crystal meth, locally known as shabu, were seized from a suspected drug peddler following a buy-bust operation in this city on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6.

Col. Jonathan Cabal, acting provincial director of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) who led the operation, identified the suspect as Alan Ben Caberte, a resident of Belderol Street in Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.

Caberte, a level-two high-value target, had been under surveillance for weeks.

Cabal said members of the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the BPPO and Drug Enforcement Unit of the Tagbilaran City Police Station conducted the drug sting against Caberte at around 3 p.m.

After the deal, police officers positioned nearby quickly arrested him in his house.

Police seized big packs of suspected shabu, which weighed 1.5 kilos with an estimated street value of P10.2 million.

Before Caberte’s arrest, his alleged accomplice, Eva Marie Osiones, 44, was arrested first in a buy-bust operation at 1 p.m. in New Hampshire in Lindaville Phase 1, Barangay Tiptip, Tagbilaran City.

Seized from Osiones were sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P102,000.

Both Caberte and Osiones were detained at Tagbilaran City Police detention facility.

A case of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 would be filed against the suspects.
