Cop shot dead in Maguindanao

SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao, Philippines – A police officer was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen on the national highway in Barangay Gang in this town Sunday afternoon.

Maj. Julhamin Asdani, chief of the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station, said 30-year-old Pat. Asraph Pasandalan Mato,  a member of Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), was driving his motorbike at 1 p.m. when gunmen on separate motorbikes shot him from behind.

Mato, a resident of Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, fell off his motorbike and died on the spot while his assailants sped away.
