Cops check signs of sexual assault on girl found dead in Laguna
SAN PEDRO CITY –– Police were waiting for the results of the autopsy conducted on a three-year-old girl, who was found dead near a railroad in this city.
City police Lt. Col. Zeric Soriano, Thursday, said they were able to identify the victim through her family, who had earlier reported the child missing on September 27.
On Wednesday morning, a resident found her body dumped near railroad tracks in Barangay Pacita 1 here.
The child was completely naked, Soriano said.
“We’re still waiting for the autopsy report,” Soriano said in a phone interview.
The police did not initially see physical wounds that may suggest the cause of her death, as her remains had begun “decomposing” when found.
The police said the child, whose father was a tricycle driver here, was sleeping in the tricycle terminal when she was taken by a still unidentified man.
Her family sought police help in locating for her.
“We’re still talking to witnesses who may identify the person who took her,” Soriano said.
Police were also gathering security camera footage in the vicinity to help in the investigation./lzb
