SAN PEDRO CITY –– Suspected robbers shot and killed a woman before taking off with a safety deposit box, which, as it turned out, contained only personal documents and records.
Police Major Resty Soriano, Silang police chief, said Ananda Carla Nicolasora, 44, lived with her 70-year-old mother, Concepcion, in a one-story house with a basement inside the exclusive Ponderosa subdivision in Barangay Pasong Langka in Silang, Cavite.
In a phone interview, Soriano said the subdivision’s security guards reported the incident to the police around 2 a.m. Thursday, or about two hours after the robbery and shooting at the Nicolasoras’ residence.
Based on the initial investigation, “three to four” burglars broke the glass windows of the basement where Ananda slept.
Concepcion, who was then sleeping upstairs, was awakened by the commotion. She went down to check and found Ananda with a bullet wound. She small safety box was missing from the drawers.
Soriano said the scene suggested that Ananda may have tried to flee as she was shot in the back. “(The robbers) may also have thought the safety box contained jewelries or something else (valuable) but (Concepcion) told investigators it contained just some documents,” he said.
Nothing else was stolen in the house.
Soriano said Ponderosa homeowners have refused police from conducting security patrol as the village was supposed to be “exclusive.”
Soriano said they were tracking down “persons of interest,” among them workers. who recently did some repair job in the victim’s home./lzb
