PAO to set up legal clinics to help `Sendong’ victims

MANILA, Philippines—Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta has ordered PAO office in Northern Mindanao and Dumaguete City to put up legal clinics to help victims of tropical storm “Sendong.”

Acosta said the victims would also be needing legal assistance to facilitate on their loss documents to be able to start rebuilding their lives.

“In the interest of the service, the public attorneys of Northern Mindanao and Dumaguete City are hereby directed to put up legal aid clinics at the evacuation centers within the territorial jurisdiction of their respective districts,” Acosta said.

In her Memorandum Order, Acosta ordered the PAO offices in the province to accommodate legal needs of the victims including making of affidavits of loss, reconstitution of titles and other documents requiring legal representation, coordination with the civil registrar and National Statistics Office for registration of death certificates and other legal needs.
