SIERRA BULLONES, Bohol –– Rains finally came in some parts here on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1, promising relief to affected farmers and water consumers.
The town, some 71 km north of the capital Tagbiran City, is under a state of calamity due to water shortage since August.
The rain gave the town a respite from the scorching heat brought by El Niño.
Amy Buslon, 57, of Barangay Poblacion, said she prayed it would rain after humid weather for the past days.
Her prayer was answered when it rained heavily at noon.
“It’s been a while since we experienced rain. We’re happy that it finally came,” she said while fetching rainwater from the gutter.
Barangay Poblacion suffered from low to no water supply. Other affected barangays with no or low water supply are Salvador, San Agustin, San Jose, San Juan, La Union, Canlangit, Sta. Cruz and Villa Garcia.
She said she would use the water for washing the dishes and cleaning the toilet.
The rain, however, watered the villages of Bugsoc and Poblacion only.
Farflung barangays remain waterless and farmlands dried up./lzb
