DAGUPAN CITY–Six pigs suspected to be infected with African swine fever were killed and buried in the town of Mapandan, Pangasinan province on Sunday, Sept. 29, to prevent the spread of the animal disease.
Town officials and police said the pigs were seized from a backyard farm at the village of Guesang and were owned by a certain Lemuel Chico.
Authorities said the hogs came from a farm at the village of Baloling, which had been closed for quarantine earlier after 60 pigs from Bulacan were killed and buried there on Saturday, Sept. 28.
