2 motorcyclists dead, 1 hurt in Quezon accidents

LUCENA CITY – Two motorcycle riders were killed and another one injured in two separate road accidents in Tayabas City and Calauag town in Quezon province on Sunday, police said.

Motorcyclist Ramil Romero Sr., while negotiating a village road, accidentally collided to an oncoming motorcycle being ridden by David Valerio Rogel in Barangay (village) Masinin Tayabas City around 9:30 p.m., Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon police chief, said in a report.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, both motorcycles overturned, its riders overthrown into the ground. The pair sustained head and body injuries.

Romero died on the spot while Rogel was rushed to the Tayabas Community Hospital at the town center.

In Calauag town, motorcyclist Carlo Tomines was accidentally bumped by a Bicol-bound Arandia passenger bus being driven by Edgar Pillarda in Barangay Viñas around 7:30 p.m.

Tomines sustained grave injuries and died on the spot after he was dragged by the bus for more than 25 meters from the point of impact.

Police said the bus occupied the opposite lane while negotiating a curved section of the Maharlika Highway that resulted in the accident. /je
