COTABATO CITY—With the hope of increasing its tax collection before the year ends, Magpet town in North Cotabato has offered prizes for good taxpayers, and amnesty for the delinquent ones.
Mayor Efren Piñol has called on all delinquent taxpayers in Magpet to avail themselves of the tax amnesty the town treasurer’s office is implementing.
Municipal Ordinance No. 489 is granting delinquent tax payers an opportunity to settle their accounts without paying penalties and interests.
“I am appealing to all delinquent tax payers to avail of the tax amnesty and settle your obligation to our treasury office the soonest possible time,” Piñol said.
“Your taxes will return to the community in the form of development projects like roads, bridges and other infrastructure needed to boost business activities,” he said.
In the same breath, Piñol said prizes have been offered to prompt tax payers in Magpet, a town situated at the foot of the country’s highest peak, Mt. Apo.
Tax payers who are prompt in paying their taxes have the chance to win major prizes as the treasury office announced a raffle promo before the year ends.
Piñol said lucky winners will receive a dining set for first prize, living room set for second and dressing cabinet for third prize. Consolation prizes such as electric fan, electric iron, and rice cooker also await the lucky winners.
He said only tax payers who have been religiously paying their obligations would be qualified to join the raffle draw on December 29 at the town’s gymnasium.
Magpet’s treasury office is open even on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate late tax payers.
