16 Indian nationals nabbed in Sultan Kudarat
GENERAL SANTOS CITY –– Authorities have apprehended 16 Indian nationals engaged in lending activities in Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao provinces for alleged lack of legal documents, a Bureau of Immigration (BI) official confirmed Saturday.
Julius Jamorabon, BI-General Santos chief, said the foreigners were arrested Friday in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat province during simultaneous operations.
“They will be subjected to verification, and if it will be found they lack the necessary papers, they could face deportation,” he told the Inquirer.
Jamorabon said the Indian nationals were brought to the BI office in Davao City Friday afternoon.
BI operatives, police and the military jointly conducted the operations against undocumented foreign workers in Sultan Kudarat.
Some of the arrested Indian nationals have lending operations in neighboring Maguindanao province, Jamorabon said./lzb
