Wayward truck rams 5 vehicles in Cavite; 5 hurt

SAN PEDRO CITY –– Two people were injured in a six-vehicle collision in Carmona town in Cavite province on Saturday morning.

The vehicles involved also caught fire, the police said.

In a text message, Cavite police chief Col. William Segun said the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. along Governor’s Drive in Barangay Mabuhay.

He said a dump truck lost its control as it was negotiating the zigzag part of the road and rammed two shuttle buses and a trailer truck in front of it.

The dump truck also then hit two other vehicles, a sports utility vehicle, and another truck, on the opposite lane of the road.

In a phone interview, case investigator Master Sargeant Marlon Ramirez said the dump truck’s driver and helper, whose names were not immediately available, were injured and taken to the Pagamutang Bayan ng Carmona.

The passengers of the other vehicles were able to get out unharmed, he said.

As of noon, authorities have already towed away the vehicles and reopened the road to traffic./lzb
