UP Diliman probes screenshots of hazing on Twitter
After an alleged fraternity hazing in the campus surfaced online, the University of the Philippines Diliman administration and the University Student Council (USC) will form a committee to investigate the matter and to “ensure that facts are considered in the imposition of possible sanctions” to the students involved.
On Sept. 25, an anonymous account on Twitter posted screenshots of an alleged online conversation two years ago among members of the UP Sigma Rho Fraternity involved in acts of hazing. The Twitter account has since been suspended. The fraternity has yet to comment.
The leaked conversations allegedly involved USC councilor Tierone Santos, who was immediately placed by the USC under preventive suspension. Campus officials and the student body had yet to verify the details of the screenshots. —Mariejo S. Ramos
