MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck Sarangani province at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tectonic quake centered 17 kilometers southeast of Alabel town, at a depth of 29 kilometers.
Intensity II was felt in Alabel while General Santos City experienced Intensity I. Instrumental intensities were also noted in Alabel.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the quake.
The Philipines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
