MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Higher Education (Ched) is looking to improve the teaching of the ethics course in colleges and universities as part of the agreement signed with the Ombudsman and University of the Philippines (UP) on Thursday.
The initiative is one of the agreements signed in a memorandum by Ched chairperson J. Prospero De Vera III, Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires and UP System President Danilo Concepcion in UP Diliman.
Under the memorandum, Ched will “facilitate the production of information and education materials on ethics and accountability and disseminate these materials for the use of professors teaching the subject under the General Education (GE) curriculum in universities.”
Ched will also organize workshops for GE professors in the teaching of the subject on Ethics, and disseminate these materials to other education stakeholders.
The commission will also initiate with other higher education institutions (HEI) on the development of subject on Ethics and Accountability in the Public Service.
De Vera said that this three-unit course is an elective that can be offered in universities and colleges. However, he said that the course cannot be established right away./ac
