PNP receives 142 motorbikes donated from South Korea

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday received 142 motorbikes donated by the South Korean government to help strengthen the country’s anti-criminality campaign.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the motorbikes will be deployed in cities and will be used by beat patrollers to boost police visibility.

PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said they will distribute the vehicles in Metro Manila, Angeles City, Baguio City, Cebu City, and Davao City.

The motorbikes were part of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) project agreement signed by the PNP and the Korean Embassy on July 12, 2017.

Año, Albayalde, South Korean Ambassador Han Dong-Man and Commissioner General of the Korea National Police Agency Min Gab-Ryong were present in the turnover ceremony of the motorbikes in Camp Crame in Quezon City.

In an interview with reporters, Dong-Man said the Korean government is planning to deepen its relationship with the Philippines.

“As I have told you our relationship between Korea and the Philippines has developed… We are envisioning to deepen our ties. We are increasing our investment and trade vis-a-vis the Philippines,” he said after the turnover ceremony. /je
