Pagasa sees rainy Christmas

MANILA, Philippines — It will be a rainy Christmas day for the country as a low pressure area was seen east southeast of Mindanao and the northeast monsoon continues to affect Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.

In its latest weather forecast, Pagasa said that as of 2 am, the low pressure area was seen 630 kilometers East Southeast of Mindanao.

Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers, the state-run weather bureau said.

Visayas and Mindanao will likewise experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Skies will become cloudy and will bring widespread rains over the eastern sections which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa warned.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Northeast with slight to moderate seas,” Pagasa added.
