MANILA, Philippines — Fire broke out at a residential area at the back of the Adamson University in Manila on Thursday afternoon, fire emergency dispatch portal TXTFIREPhilippines said.
The blaze at Sylvia Street corner San Marcelino Street in Ermita was raised to second alarm at around 12:31 noon.
After more than 10 minutes, the fire was raised to fifth alarm.
At around 3:50 p.m., the fire was declared under control. It was put out at 7:36 p.m.
In a tweet, the Manila Public Information Office said student dormitories.

Classes at AdU and the Technological University of the Philippines were suspended due to the fire. AdU opened its campus to provide temporary shelter for the victims.
Manila Department of Social Welfare chief Re Fugoso said they provided meals and plastic mats.
The Manila Police District’s Ermita police station reported that nine people suffered minor injuries in the incident.
As of this posting, the Manila Fire Arson Investigation Division said the seven-hour fire was still under investigation.
