MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.5 earthquake rocked Cagwait, Surigao Del Sur on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 4:57 a.m., 75 kilometers southeast of Cagwait.
Phivolcs said the tremor was of tectonic origin, and had a 5-kilometer depth of focus.
No aftershocks and damage are expected, Phivolcs added.
Last Monday, two earthquakes likewise jolted Cagwait, several minutes apart.
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake first struck the area at 10:34 p.m., followed by a magnitude 4.2 tremor 12 minutes later. /gsg
