Police probing links of ‘drug queen’ to ninja cops’ deaths – Eleazar
MANILA, Philippines – Police are looking into the alleged involvement of Manila’s drug queen Guia Gomez Castro in the killing of some “ninja cops,” the chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Wednesday.
“We are considering or studying if the drug queen is responsible for the purging of some of the involved ninja cops who are now deceased,” Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said at a press conference at Camp Karingal, Quezon City.
“We received information and we are still validating it if they [Castro’s group] are responsible for the death of other ninja cops,” Eleazar added.
Eleazar stressed that 16 police officers who were involved in Castro’s illegal drug trade were not active in the police force anymore.
Of the 16 ninja cops, nine were killed in separate incidents, two are already retired, two are fired, two are under absent without official leave status and one is detained./ac
